Joomla! is one of many popular software used as WCMS. Just like any other WCMS softwares, Joomla! It is used by people with little knowledge of programming languages and markup languages to create and manage content with relative ease, however, Joomla! became popular in the market because of its characteristics. The Joomla! package consists of many different parts, which allow modular extensions and additions to be made easily. An example of these are extensions calls “plugins”. According to the Web design consultants Philippines, plugin works the same way as plugins used in Mozilla Firefox extensions extend Joomla! with new features. A famous example is the plugin JoomSEF.

The JoomSEF is a plugin to add functions used mainly for SEO. These functions include the original rewrite of Joomla! URL to be search engine friendly and understandable as man which provides a variety of editable Meta tags for any URL into your Joomla! and many more. In addition to the more complete plugin, extensions are available. “Components” allows webmasters to perform those operations as building a community by expanding the user functionality, backing up a Web site, content, translate, create URLs that are more friendly to search engines and add shopping cart functionality for your e-commerce Web site.

The criticism even though Joomla! is considered one of the best WCMS used in today’s market, there was also criticised, in particular with its functions commonly quoted by Web designers and developers.
